Wolverhampton Summer League

From 1977 until 2014, the Wolverhampton Summer League provided competitive chess for clubs in and around the Wolverhampton area during Summer months.
For your interest, here is a summary of the 2014 competition rules.
Teams had four players,
- Division 1 was open to players of any grade.
- Division 2 was for players graded up to 145, January grades
- Division 3 was for players graded up to 120. January grades
Rate of play was 30 moves in 65 minutes, followed by a 15 minute quickplay finish.
Away teams played white on odd numbered boards.
Results were sent for grading
Entry fee was £5 per team.
For illegal moves, the opponent was given an extra two minutes on the clock.
Teams were given 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw. Teams tied at the end of the season were separated using their game points totals.
Trophies were awarded to the winning team in each division, and the best player in each division.
